Are Plastic surgeons artists?
Plastic surgery is a subbranch of the general surgery. The artistic esthetics is, on the other hand, is a subbranch of the philosophy.
In surgery, plastic surgery means “to form”, “to shape (gestalt)”, it creates an artwork. A plastik surgeon does not create an artwork but performs a medical procedure. Although some of these procedures do have esthetic concerns, this does not affect, disqualify the value nd content of the performed procedure or does not make it an artwork. Therefore, plastic surgery procedures and the respective consequences should not be assessed as an art form. The fact that a surgeon perform her/his work with the attention and meticulousness and spirit of an artist, and utilizing the latest technical-scientific capacity does (can) not make her/him an artist but does indeed make her/his work valuable (state-of-the-art).
